Benson - Brass and Guts and Rock and Soul

Benson are a swaggering six piece renowned in Leeds for producing an energetic brand of music that can only be described as 'Brassed up Indie Rock N' Soul'. In addition to huge choruses and catchy verses, Benson are becoming Synonymous with their 'crowd work outs' in which they thrill live audiences with their infectious energy. After a great first year in 2012 selling out two local shows in the main room cockpit and the library and getting some great support slots, 2013 is looking promising already for benson with various festivals and support slots with 'The Beat' and Liverpool indie chart toppers 'Space'. Benson are must see band.

The band is formed by six members who are inspired by influences that vary massively. The founding members Daniel Sharpe (Guitar and Backing vocals) and Joe Sefton (Saxophone and backing vocals) are fresh from the punk scene with their former band Guns on The Roof along with Stash (Trumpet) formerly of The Dead Pets. This combined with Richard Myers (drums) formerly of N.R.T, provides plenty of punch, mixed with an array of intricate rhythms. Include the strong, indie influenced, bluesy, gravely tones of Jordan Clarke (lead vocals) and solid bass of Tom Chapman and you have a six piece capable of taking the roof off any venue.
